> Yesterday was a million years ago
> in all my past lives I played an asshole
Ok i think yesterday symbolizes his career and the past lives symbolize the
albums and his unfeelingness towards the world.
> now I found you, it's almost too late
> and this earth seems obliviating
Now that he's in love and has Rose he feals like he's already been through so
much that he had almost given up on caring.
> we are trembling in our crutches
> high and dead our skin is glass
have you ever seen him preform kinderfeld where he's on those huge stilt things
i think that alot of this song is about his last tour and of course the high and
dead represent drugs.
> I'm so empty here without
> I crack and split my xerox hands
i think that this emptiness that he feals that she's the only thing that makes
him feal complete.
>
> I know its the last day on earth
> we'll be together while the planet dies
> I know it's the last day on earth
> we'll never say goodbye
even if the world ends they will still be together
>
> the dogs slaughter each other softly
> love burns its casualties
Pink Floyd has a song called The Dogs of War comparing them to like soldiers for
"the men of hate" saying how they will kill anyone for no reason at all, just to
kill or conquer. the other line means that love is still around but it's dying -
I'm not sure though it's like i know it but it's hard to formulate into words.
> we are damaged provider modules
> spill the seeds at our children's feet
when we're young we are raised so that we can have kids and raise them but,
we're so screwed up we're not able to do that anymore. our society is breaking
down and the children are the ones who pay.
> I'm so empty here without you
> I know they want me dead
i think in the wake of the trajedy at Columbine that this line is very literal
towards the media and gov. and other authority that doesn't understand him. I
think as horrible as it seems to us that there are alot of people out there who
like Manson to die and he knows it.
>

I love this song. There are times when I have listened to it over and over and
over. I always seem to get a more fatalistic message from it.
"there is no cure for what is killing me"
Marilyn Manson from The Minute of Decay

I don't have time right now to do a complete analysis on the song (i'll
do it later), but this one line seemed to stand out for some reason. In
wars, soldiers will burn the dead bodies of their comrades to get rid of
them.
>> love burns its casualties
so when you fall in love again, it makes you forget about all the old
painful/bad love experiences you've had.

Yesterday was a million years ago
in all my past lives I played an asshole
I think I pretty much have to agree with everyone...
Yesterday I also think was before he regained his emotions/found
comawhite/returned to earth...
> now I found you, it's almost too late
> and this earth seems obliviating
He regained his emotions, but it was almost too late...the earth, the way
everything is, almost destroyed him, and he sees how it acts towards
everyone.
> we are trembling in our crutches
> high and dead our skin is glass
Crutches: church, society, preconcieved notions..i.e. drugs..
high and dead: again on "drugs" and dead to the world....skin is
glass...transparent, easily broken down...
> I'm so empty here without you
> I crack my xerox hands
Just noticed a lyric error...loves how people can't read the liners...
anyway...
without her, without comawhite, he is empty...an emptiness he didn't notice
before, because he was dead...
xerox...copy? I don't know...also, for those of you who don't know, xerox
was involved in early developments in the computer industry somehow I
forgot...computerized, digital..mechanical.
> I know its the last day on earth
> we'll be together while the planet dies
> I know it's the last day on earth
> we'll never say goodbye
He knows the world is going to end....but he wants them to "die holding
hands"....their love is more important than this world...
> the dogs slaughter each other softly
> love burns its casualties
Can we say "Marilyn is on some good shit and I want some?"
teeheee
uhm...
the first line reminds me of scenes from "The Wall"....but it's like...the
animals kill each other and noone notices...
I think love burns it's casualities is talking about the same kind of
thing...we kill each other with love instead of building each other up.
Love is a weapon.
> we are damaged provider modules
> spill the seeds at our children's feet
We are supposed to be able to provide...for our children, for our future,
etc. But this world has damaged us so we no longer have the capacity...and
we pass our problems on to our children.
> I'm so empty here without you
> I know they want me dead
Everyone wants Marilyn dead...even some of his "fans".
I mean, think of how many people idolize Kurt Cobain now. A dead person
can't let you down..can't change his look, can't not show up at concerts,
can't walk off in the middle...
they don't have as much impact over your children either...
A dead person is safe. Marilyn is not.
I love this song too...it makes me sad and full of love..because in some
ways, I think he is talking to us, his fans...
"never say goodbye"

i think everyone's pretty much covered this song.
and yes i purposefully didnt analyze it. for some
reason, every time i start thinking about this song,
it cuts through me, and i cant get my thoughts to come
together. (this may just be the result of being in
love with someone, so hopefully i'll be back to normal
soon hehehe) ok, so i have a few thoughts....
>I'm so empty here without you
>I crack my xerox hands
(directly from booklet: "I'm so empty here without
I crack and split my xerox hands")
hands, in a biblical sense, represent works. xerox is
an exact copy by a machine. cracking/splitting is
breaking out of that.
also, i think its interesting that the linear notes
here literally is without "you". i'm pretty sure he
did that on purpose to emphasize the emptyness.
> the dogs slaughter each other softly
maybe the dogs is humanity. we are ripping each other
apart, but in a way, it is softly. we're not trying
to. the question is: is softly a synonym for tenderly
or quietly?
